Insights Learned from the article "Teaching and Learning Philosophy and Strategies" by UC Regents (2000)

Teaching and Learning Philosophy and Strategies
by UC Regents (2000)*

In this article, I learned specific teaching and learning strategies and philosophies which I can apply in my class to ensure optimum participation and learning.

Learning is a social endeavour. It is the product of fruitful interplay between individuals and groups, and intentional interaction between soft and hard texts and learners.

Teaching must begin from the learners’ previous knowledge. Teacher must be able to establish connection between the old learnings and the new concept and skills to be taught.

The teaching and learning process is definitely not only a business of the teacher. Learners are also responsible for their own learning. Teachers must be able to master the art of the gradual release of responsibility to learn from him/her to the learners.
